Newport Bus, the main transport operator for the City of Newport, has joined forces with Mrs Buckét in order to deliver high-quality cleaning services to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect drivers and passengers.

Started in January 2021, the enhanced cleaning regime includes the spot cleaning of the bus interior touchpoints such as handrails, bell pushes, driver cab and controls each time a vehicle returns from a trip back into the bus station. In addition, Mrs Buckét’s team carries out the cleaning of the drivers’ canteen at the bus station.

Lee Ahern, Engineering Director at Newport Bus explains: “From the start of the pandemic, we increased our nightly cleaning regime with additional chemicals alongside a weekly disinfecting mist of the vehicles, the introduction of day-time spot cleans at the depot, the enforcement of social distancing, ventilation and face-covering when on board our buses. However, with the rise in cases and the new and more contagious COVID-variants, we see it as paramount to the operation of our business to further enhance our cleaning regime. Working with an experienced cleaning company helps us provide the best service possible to our customers and staff with the main goal to keep everyone as safe as possible.”

Yvette Wilkins, Operations Director at Mrs Buckét, comments: “In the current climate, the wellbeing and safety of the general public is of paramount importance. We are currently working with Newport Transport implementing thorough and regular touch point sanitisation. By bringing our services on board, Newport Transport is ensuring that the risk of transmission of the virus is kept low, providing reassurance to those who need to use their services.”

Ahern adds: “At a time when only essential travel is allowed, most of our customers are essential keyworkers or those that rely heavily on public transport. With our drivers and engineering staff also being key workers, they deserve that extra reassurance and security, as well as our sincere thanks for their commitment.”
